This is the outline of our Microsoft Access Level 2 course - Duration: 2 days

If you’re in the business of managing data, then using Access to handle the creation, manipulation and analysis of your organisation’s data will give you powerful solutions. This course gives you the skills to design a relational database by learning how to create and link tables. With the use of simple queries, you will also learn how efficiently you can extract and manipulate information. You will find out how to design professional looking Access forms to simplify data entry and make data enquiries more powerful and with the use of Access reports you will be able to communicate information more effectively. By using data relevant to your work, this course will show you how easy it is to become more efficient in database manipulation and analysis. This is a comprehensive course that quickly takes you from beginner level to more advanced topics and therefore prepares you for our Access Level 3 Course. 

This course would also be suitable if you have been using Access for some time but have had no formal training in it.

We specialise on on-site training and can come to you to run our course either on your PC's or provide our own high specification equipment. If you want specific training for your staff, we're happy to customise this course to your requirements, adding or removing topics as necessary.

Review Basic Concepts

  • Review the correct use of Tables, Queries, Forms and Reports in a Relational Database.

Working with Records

  • Accurately enter, edit and delete records in an Access Table.

Designing Tables

  • Use Table Design View to create fields with their correct field types.
  • Control the data in fields by assigning the correct Field Properties.
  • Explain correctly the use of Primary Keys.

Creating Table Relationships

  • Explain the use of table relationships correctly
  • Explain why you would want to Enforce Referential Integrity.
  • Correctly link tables in one-to-many relationships.


Designing Queries

  • Find records in tables based on multiple criteria.
  • Find records where you enter the criteria when you run the query.
  • Use Queries to find  data across linked tables.

Designing Forms

  • Design simple forms to enter records into tables.
  • Design simple forms to accurately show data from one or more tables or queries.
  • Correctly add boxes (controls) onto a form.
  • Add a box that accurately shows a selection of values from which the user can choose.
  • Add a box into which you can put your own calculation.

Designing Reports

  • Design simple reports to print out the correct data from tables or queries..

Import and Export Between Excel

  • Correctly move data between Access and Excel.
  •  Print out your Spreadsheet
