Case Study - John Wiley & Sons

John Wiley & Sons, www.wiley.com, is a global publisher of print and electronic products, specializing in scientific, technical, and medical books and journals; professional and consumer books, including the continually extending “For Dummies” series.  With about 5,100 employees worldwide, Wiley has operations in the United States, Europe (the UK, Germany and Russia), Canada, Asia, and Australia. In February 2007, Wiley-Blackwell was created by merging Blackwell Publishing with Wiley's Global Scientific.

Burningsuit Ltd was originally approached by John Wiley and Sons in 2006 to provide training in Microsoft Excel to 600 staff at their Chichester and Bognor Regis offices.  The approach was made by their then Head of HR via the Burningsuit website.  Wiley have their own computer training suite and the requirement was for Burningsuit to provide Excel 2000 Training from beginner to advanced level on an ad hoc basis to users from all departments across their Chichester and Bognor Regis sites.

On Wiley’s upgrade to Microsoft Office 2007 in 2008, Burningsuit’s provision of training was extended to include Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.  The training of Outlook 2007 was accomplished through Burningsuit providing their own Exchange Server and Outlook training accounts.

Because of the close working relationship that has been established between Burningsuit and Wiley, Burningsuit are increasingly delivering customised and bespoke courses for Wiley; an Advanced Word 2007 course, an Advanced PowerPoint Workshop and a 2-day Microsoft Project course have all be tailored specifically for Wiley’s staff.

Lenise Shaw from Wiley’s HR says:-

“We have been using Burningsuit as our Microsoft desktop training provider for a number of years and have always found the training to be easily accessible by our staff. The feedback given by our staff always rates the training they have received as ‘excellent’. The training sessions are run efficiently and professionally and there is always time given for questions. I have no hesitation in recommending Burningsuit as a Microsoft desktop training provider.”
